Careers / Open role

Senior Software Engineer

Engineering · Melbourne · Full-time · In person, five days a week

About the role

We are building the platform that trains, assesses and verifies operators: personalised pathways, a 1:1 AI tutor, real industry missions and a skills record employers can trust. As a senior engineer you’ll design and ship core parts of it, working directly with the founders and the people who use it.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build and run core product: pathways, missions, assessment and the capability portfolio employers review.
  • Build AI features that hold up in practice, including tutoring, feedback and skills mapping, with evaluation and guardrails you can stand behind.
  • Own systems end to end, from data model and APIs to the interface, deployment and monitoring.
  • Make sensible architecture decisions for a product that handles sensitive data and will serve security-conscious customers.
  • Talk to operators, mentors and employers, and turn what you learn into shipped improvements every week.
  • Help set the engineering bar and hire the engineers who come next.

What you’ll bring

  • Five or more years building and shipping production software, ideally full-stack.
  • Strong fundamentals in one modern stack (for example TypeScript or Python) and in cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience building with large language models in production, or a clear, demonstrable interest in doing so well.
  • Care for security, privacy and reliability, not just features.
  • The habit of shipping small, often, and owning what happens after release.

Nice to have

  • Experience in edtech, assessment or marketplace products.
  • Experience working to government or defence security standards.
